The challenge.
The restaurant needed ordering, kitchen status, menu changes, and reporting to work together. Its previous process split these jobs across separate tools.
- Orders lost in transit from front-of-house to kitchen
- Menu updates required reprinting every week — costly and slow
- Zero revenue analytics — no idea which items were profitable
- Table turnover blindspot — no visibility into table status
Decisions behind the build.
I designed this as one system, not three tools glued together. The core insight: the menu CMS, POS, and kitchen display all read from the same data model. A menu change in the CMS reflects on the POS and kitchen screen instantly.
Unified Data Model
Menu items, orders, and table states share a data model across the interfaces.
Kitchen Display System
WebSocket-powered kitchen screen shows orders in real-time. Chefs mark items ready; the status updates on the server's POS instantly.
Table Management
Visual floor plan with live table states — available, occupied, billed. Servers see the entire restaurant at a glance.
Revenue Dashboard
Daily, weekly, monthly revenue breakdowns. Best-selling items, peak hour analysis, average ticket size. Exportable for accounting.
